Construction: molding in 3 and more flasks

The technology of molding in several flasks is one of the most common: it has been known for a long time in the foundry industry and is used successfully. Let's talk about it in more detail and clarify, how and in what order this process is carried out.

In what cases is it needed??

● If molding with one connector is not feasible for some reason;

● The casting configuration does not allow the model to be pulled out of the mold;

● The height of the casting is greater than the height of two ordinary flasks (we are talking about the position when pouring).

This technology is not uncommon in the construction industry..

so, first we need molding sand. Its base is bentonite clay.. This material, in its turn, made from bentonite ball clay in combination with benton powders. There are usually no problems with the quality of clay, but powders need more attention: if their quality does not comply with GOST, the quality of the entire casting will be in doubt.

You must use a split model. The procedure is as follows:

● The model is fixed on the plate;

● The bentonite clay mixture is placed in the middle flask;

● Then it needs to be shaped, closing this flask with the bottom;

● Flip and middle, and lower flask;

● Place the upper half of the mold and fill it with molding mixture;

● First remove the top, and then the middle half-form;

● Take out the top one first, and then the bottom half of the model;

● Assemble the mold, placing the rods.

This is not the only forming method. A stacked one is also used: option, in which the flask is formed by several halves, stacked. If molding according to the first option is successfully applicable in mass production, and in single production, then the stacked one has proven itself primarily in the mass market. People turn to her, when small flat castings are needed.

So what is good about molding in 3 or more flasks? Its main advantage is high productivity.. The fact, that the molding sand in this situation is consumed sparingly, and the working area is used rationally. But there is also a minus - bentonite clay fills the mold unevenly. It's not critical, but a flaw is a flaw.

A construction technologist must determine the optimal molding method depending on the type and characteristics of production. We must be prepared for that, that implementing a molding configuration is not easy and takes a lot of time. So let’s not forget about a serious and fully responsible approach.
